Orléans Food Spot Review - Mama Rosa Pizzeria
The dough is to die for.

At some point in the near future, I want to be able to tell you with some measure of confidence what the absolute best Pizza 🍕 in Orléans is. Why? Because you deserve to know, and I definitely deserve to sample the finest pizza this suburb of ours has to offer. I came to this country when I was seven years old and one of my earliest memories was of trying my first ever slice of pizza. It was love at first bite.
Whether it’s delivery or a dining experience, I’ve tried my fair share of slices here, but I have yet to be able to definitely declare that THIS or THAT place has the best pizza.
So, on a quest to find Orléans best pizza, today I began with a trip to Mama Rosa Pizzeria.
ATMOSPHERE & SPACE
Let’s get the obvious out of the way. Mama Rosa’s is not a sit-down place, it’s basically all take-out, and as a result, the retail experience is pretty bare bones. But for a place like this that doesn’t really matter, what it’s important is the quality of the food.

Mama Rosa offers both delivery and pickup and you can directly order on their somewhat archaic website. Located at 375 Des Épinettes Ave, this Pizzeria has a fairly large menu to choose from. Everything from the obvious pizza selections to appetizers such as garlic bread, potato skins, deep-fried cheese curds, poutine, salads, wraps, chicken wings and even burgers and sandwiches. There’s no shortage of selection. Even their dinner menu offers a variety of pasta and sub sandwich options.

FOOD
While my main goal was to try the pizza that Mama Rose has on offer, I recognize that there is a broader menu of food I’ve yet to try. I plan on going back at some point to sample the larger menu. When I do, I’ll make sure to update this review.
Now let’s talk about the Pizza.
I’m a fairly unadventurous pizza eater… my usual go-to is Pepperoni + Mushrooms with extra cheese, but today I decided to even go plainer than that… just two Pepperoni slices. It seems like I got there today just after the lunch rush as the pizza had just come out of the oven, giving me a prime opportunity to sample it at its freshest.
The bottom line is that my taste buds were delighted. Was it the best pizza I’ve ever had? No. But was it one of the better pizza slices I’ve tasted in Orléans? Yes. Without a doubt. Generous amounts of cheese, sauce and pepperoni added up to some very good pizza. But the best part was the dough. Oh the dough.
When you eat a lot of pizza like I do, you come to understand that half the reason a pizza can succeed or fail is the quality of the dough. Mama Rosa’s dough is the perfect blend of crispy, stretchy and starchy. 😋
