The amazing folks at EarthHub and their network of vounteers are working hard to help keep items out of landfills. They collect a range of everyday items that they collect to repurpose, including: egg cartons, crayons, empty lip balm and glue stick tubes, milk bags, can pull tabs, plastic tags and plastic bottle caps. Together they have diverted over 744,000 items for re-use, and diverted over 6,000 pounds of plastic! ♻️

🌎 Learn more about their Items to Keep out of the Landfill (ITKOOTL) Program, and consider how you can get engaged! As they say on their website: “We don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly, we need millions of people doing it imperfectly!” We all have a part to play. You can email [email protected] for drop-off locations - we’re lucky to have them close by.

BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT 🔦

This week’s Orléans business spotlight is…. 🥁 …. CAFE LATTE CINO - Located off Tenth Line Rd across from the Farm Boy, this amazing Cafe and meeting place is a unique find in Orléans.

While Cafe Latte Cino leads with its premium coffees and fine teas, there is a sizeable menu of food options as well, making it a perfect lunch spot. A large collection of smoothies, coffees, desserts, salads, waffles & crepes, sandwiches, soups, and even gelato await your visit.

We visited Cafe Latte Cino this week and it’s the subject of our first Orléans Food Spot Review which you can read here. 🔗

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and features plenty of seating and free Wi-Fi, and is host to various community events.

If you haven’t discovered this spot yet, make sure to drop by for a visit and tell them Orléans Connect sent you.

Hammerhead worms are expected to be popping up in Ontario this Spring. These nasty little guys are deemed an invasive species in North America and if you see one you should put it out to pasture so-to-speak. They’re toxic to both humans and pets, and can even cause death if ingested. Gloves are recommended for anyone attempting to remove or dispose of one.

❓POLL OF THE WEEK…

Should we start a "Pets of Orléans" section in the newsletter where you can submit photos of your pets and have them featured in the newsletter?
